Kayla Treat

Program Manager

Kayla was recruited to join the SLG management team due to her diverse educational and human service background.

Kayla secured a Bachelor of Science in counseling psychology from Johnson & Wales University before going on to secure a Master of Forensic Psychology degree and a Master of Business degree from Southern New Hampshire University. This educational foundation enabled Kayla to develop a strong understanding of the processes associated with successful community rehabilitation and ensured her commitment to the principles of person-centered services.

Kayla's first steps into the healthcare field came as a mental health worker, where she worked with at-risk adolescent populations. In this role, she developed a wide array of de-escalation techniques, facilitated group therapy interventions, and ensured trauma-informed care and environment were created and maintained.

Kayla then transitioned to supporting individuals diagnosed with developmental differences and quickly moved through the professional ranks to secure program coordinator, clinical case manager, and advocacy roles. In her various roles, Kayla maintained a person-centered focus, which enabled the development of longstanding professional relationships with service participants, their families, and their interdisciplinary teams. In addition, Kayla also utilized her educational and experiential background to empower the support staff that she supervised to ensure that they were providing the best possible support services.

Kayla was recruited to join SLG in early 2023 and has rapidly become an integral part of the managerial team specializing in supporting individuals associated with the Connecticut ABI Waiver Program.
