Tracy Gomes, M.A.

Occupational Therapist/CBT

Tracy was recruited to join SLG’s clinical team in June 2023 after a distinguished career in clinical leadership, program development, and client relationship management.

Tracy’s educational journey in the rehabilitation field began in 1999. She obtained an associate of science degree in occupational therapy at Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts, and found quickly that the holistic approach of occupational therapy resonated deeply with her. Tracy also gained clinical experience at this time working on the mental health unit at the Carney Hospital in Boston, where she led occupational therapy groups for distressed adolescents in a secure unit, as well as in a partial day programming.

In 2003, Tracy earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Bay Path College, an all-woman’s school, where Tracy, as resident director, provided direct supervision of all resident assistants and supported the students of a 200-person residential dorm. Subsequently, she entered a master’s program at Springfield College, where she received a degree in education with a concentration in occupational therapy in 2005.

Tracy’s career has spanned multiple settings and patient types. She was the director of the rehab department at a visiting nurse association and has worked as the program manager at multiple skilled nursing facilities. A particular passion of Tracy’s is mentoring therapists who are new to the field. Tracy has developed clinical staff, created training programs, and supervised occupational therapy students while performing her full-time job as well. She is also skilled at program development, for example, creating and directing an outpatient amputee program, and performing occupational therapy assessments and interventions for adolescents with learning disabilities and autism.

Tracy also possesses extensive experience coordinating health plan services for private insurance companies. As a preservice coordinator working for United Health Care, Humana, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, she reviewed beneficiaries’ records for medical necessity, determined their level of care, and approved authorization requests for skilled nursing and rehabilitative services. While in this role she was recognized for her outstanding customer service to her providers.

Since joining SLG, Tracy has quickly become an integral part of the SLG team. Her approach to treating ABI Waiver Participants and working in conjunction with interdisciplinary care teams has always focused on facilitating therapeutic and long-lasting relationships. Her deep knowledge of rehab services across multiple practice areas has also enabled her to put her unique skills to use for brain injury survivors across Connecticut.
